Determining Organisational Health
The purpose of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation (AGOF) is to identify and support young talent in order to turn them into the change agents that the SA economy needs. AGOF is a non-for-profit, with high regard, and known as an attractive employer. Employee turnover is low and thus, by most standards, deemed to be a healthy organisation. We were commissioned by The Camp to measure the health of AGOF by finding alignment between the values of the AGOF and its staff.
16 recorded semi structured interviews were conducted with AGOF managers. Each took an average of one hour. We had the the goal of testing how well the values of AGOF translated into the language of its managers. In order to analyse this data in an efficient and cost effective manner, we used our Natural Language Processing algorithm to analyse the interviews and presented the key themes and topics from the interviews.
The algorithm was able to match key topics, which it found, with the organization's values. This proved that the values of a healthy organisation filter down into the spoken word of its employees.
